Nanci O Is Hip Hop

In the latest episode of Where Is Hip Hop?, Randy and I discuss Lil B, I’m Gay, and homophobia in hip hop.

As of today, Lil B has sold just under 2000 copies of his new album, I’m Gay (I’m Happy). This despite having over 260,000 followers on Twitter, 130,000 friends on Facebook and 32 million views on YouTube.

Why wasn’t Lil B able to sell more than 2000 copies of his album? I’m Gay (I’m Happy) is the most controversial title since Nas’ 2007 LP, Nigger.

In regards to Lil B and homophobia, was hip hop really ready for an album with such a controversial title? If Lil B had offered you five stacks for a verse on I’m Gay, would you have accepted the offer?
