It’s not the best album in a longgg time (I see you but don’t hear you, Lupe Fiasco) but I gotta admit, I’m Gay (I’m Happy) surprised me.
Ever since UNC’s Critics reviewed all 676 Lil B tracks off his Free Music: The Complete Myspace Collection, I’ve been somewhat checking for Lil Boss. Then when 9th Wonder, Jean Grae and Phontigallo collaborated with Lil B for "Base For Your Face", it totally intrigued me.
Lil B’s last mixtape, Illusions Of Grandeur, wasn’t that great. But I’ve got to hand it to the kid, I’m Gay (I’m Happy) is pretty jamming. Top notch production along with rhymes on issues much deeper than cooking. Plus considering how homophobic hip hop still is, even in 2011, there is nobility in releasing an album with such a controversial title.
Over the weekend Lil B released I’m Gay (I’m Happy) for free. So for those of you without the extra bread to spend, you can cop it below.
