Last night the Documentary Channel premiered Bouncing Cats, a film about hip hop and breakdancing in war-ravaged Uganda. Bouncing Cats highlights Breakdance Project Uganda and features emcees, b-boys and b-girls who use these art forms to cope and as a way to raise awareness to the world about the struggles in Uganda.

The documentary was created by director Nabil Elderkin and originally released in 2010. It is narrated by Common and features Rock Steady Crew’s legendary breaker and president, Richard “Crazy Legs” Colón. He along with native Ugandan Abraham “Abramz” Tekya , who is founder of Breakdance Project Uganda, anchors Bouncing Cats’ and its exploration of art therapy in a real world, war torn country.
