Nanci O Is Hip Hop

Picture 1

Life + Times sits down with Queens producer DB2 (pictured above in the foreground) and Uptown rapper Najee The 1 to discuss their collaborative debut album, Settle For Greatness. We learn how the duo is using different sounds and classical instrumentation, including a four-piece orchestra from New York University, to push the genre of hip hop to new levels.

We also hear about Najee The 1’s story within the foster system of NYC, growing up in over 17 different homes and how those experiences and various cultures shaped his sound as an emcee. DB2 talks about his creative process as a producer, developing new sounds and the challenges that comes with it.

This is a great interview. Check out the video after the jump!
