Nanci O Is Hip Hop

It finally clicked as to why I dig these AlLindstrom.com interviews. They are like hip hop history lessons, because if you think about it, what other video series in recent memory gets people who are behind the scenes in hip hop to sit down and tell those untold stories that changed the game? The ones we never get to hear?

In the latest segment, AlLindstrom.com sits down with Dino Delvaille, who signed Cash Money Records (CMR) to Universal for a $30 Million deal. Dino Delvaille talks about the elements that helped seal the deal:

1. CMR had consistent sales for 2-3 years, releasing 4-5 artists a year.
2. CMR had a business plan that made sense.
3. CMR had new acts plus a plan for each artist that included development and was charted out for 4 years.

There’s also a bonus clip after the jump with Dino Delvaille, where he talks about how post signing The Big Tymers didn’t do the numbers Universal had hoped and what happened after that.
