Last night De La’s 20th Anniversary Tour rolled through Chapel Hill. Lil Wayne’s AMW tour was happening across town at the arena. Mister Flowers (Eric Tullis to the rest of ya’ll) happens to be the 2nd most hated hip hop journalist in the area behind Uncle Crizzle (Craig Lindsey) at The News & Observer. I think it’s because they don’t hold back at all if an artists’ record or movie sucks. (Crizzle told me some readers left death threats on his office voicemail).
Anyway De La’s show at The Cradle was sold out. There were even tons of folks in the parking lot begging to buy tickets. I don’t know if the same can be said for Weezy’s joint cause every hip hop head I know in the area that was in town came to see De La.
I’ve attended a couple of shows in my time; hands down De La put on the best one I’ve seen in a long time. Kaze and Rapper Big Pooh opened the show; being late I missed their performances.
Even though this pic of Eric Tullis is fuzzy I had to include it because he was so excited and I’ve never ever seen him really smile. He’d just gotten his article signed by Dave, Posdanus & Mase.
LaRecia (L) and Treva (R). LaRecia is the Director of Marketing for both of Producer 9th Wonders’ record labels (JAMLA & The Academy). Both labels are looking for interns so holla at LaRecia if you’re intersted.
Producer Michael Evans (L) and Trill (R). Word on the curb is Trill has some lyrical bars in him.
Erica Thompson handles PR for all of Kooley High’s emcees including Tab One and Rapsody. She’s also Charlie Smarts’ sister. I heard some real good news last night about Rap’s mixtape that’s in the works and dropping in the fall. Kooley High was in Cali at the Rock The Bells festival.
Prince Imperial (NCC Records) and his fiance’.
