This is an older segment of Hip Hop Bytes but very relevant to the culture right now.
In this episode of Hip Hop Bytes, Mr. Shadeed examined law enforcement’s current use of technology to prosecute rappers. He touches on the history of this, and discusses the F.B.I.’s 1989 letter sent to N.W.A. about ‘F*ck The Police’ and the events which occurred after the track was released, which some hip hop fans may not be aware of.
There was also the case of Bay-Area legend C-Bo, and his case in the late 90’s when he was arrested for his song ‘Deadly Game’, in which he raps about shooting a cop in the face to avoid time behind bars.
There are more historical facts in this segment plus details of arrests from last year of Iowa rapper Gutta Man for his video ‘Gutta Town’ and also the case of individuals from Fountain Inn, South Carolina who were flashing guns in their videos.
What do you think? Is hip hop under surveillance?
