Nanci O Is Hip Hop

In last week’s episode of
Where Is Hip Hop?, Randy and I discuss Big King Remembered In Time and his potential. With two successful album releases to date, Def Jam’s backing, packed out venues on tour and the respect of industry peers, Big K.R.I.T.’s buzz is undeniable.

8 Ball & MJG, UGK, and Devin The Dude; these artists are loved and respected through out the South, can pack a venue as well and have sold tons of records. However, as a whole, they are all considered underground. They were never able to capture that mass appeal.

On the other side, you have Scarface, Outkast, Lil Wayne, and Ludacris; Southern rappers who were able to successfully cross over and find mainstream success.

Does Big K.R.I.T. have what it takes to be the next big emcee out of the South? Or will he become and remain an underground legend?

What do y’all think?
