Nanci O Is Hip Hop

No Columbus Short is not a rapper, but just ride with me on this one.

Twitter, to some of your favorite rappers, is the Devil.

On this week’s episode of Where Is Hip Hop?, Randy and I discuss the good, the bad and the ugly of hip hop and Twitter. Randy breaks down the beginnings of hip hop and Twitter, which from the culture’s perspective and use started with hip hop bloggers such as Necole Bitchie and Blogxilla. From there it expanded out to DJs and other industry personnel. We both agree on the fact that once Oprah co-signed it, Twitter blew all the way up in the hip hop community.

Now you have your favorite rappers, such as with the F-A-B-O and Soulja Boy Twitter beef (which was f*cking ridiculous), looking like total cornballs. Drake and J. Cole are two rappers who use Twitter responsibility (and sparingly), even Wiz Khalifa uses it appropriately to make his fans feel appreciated and a part of the Taylor Gang Or Die movement.

Sidebar: This week Kat Stacks made it into Where Is Hip Hop? And since this blog doesn’t focus primarily on gossipy stuff that’s a milestone cause I never thought I’d see that chick around these parts.
