The Scrap Exchange is an environmentally conscious reuse center in Durham that provides every material imaginable for creative purposes. You can find just about anything there including zippers by the barrel, test tubes by the crate and all types of paper. The most interesting thing I’ve ever seen there was a huge walk in machine labeled a "Therm-o-meter".
The Scrap Exchange collect materials from over 250 businesses within a 100 mile radius of Durham. If you’re a teacher, have kids and need ideas for art projects or just a person who likes to create items using funky materials, The Scrap Exchange is your place.
Over the past few months, The Scrap Exchange has experienced quite a bit of turmoil, including a roof collapse in their old location, a condemned building, and several moves. After all of the excitement, the reuse center has finally settled into a great new location.
The Scrap Exchange has relocated to The Golden Belt, which is one of the cooler places in Durham to hang.

To celebrate their new digs, on tomorrow September 11 The Scrap Exchange will be hosting a community Swap-O-Rama that will be DJ’ed by DJ Piddipat. You can bring your unwanted (in good condition clothes) and exchange them for some that you actually want. The cost is only $10, and you can take home whatever clothes you like.
All proceeds will benefit The Scrap Exchange and their programs, which includes classes, school events and cool activities like Events By The Truckload. Tomorrow’s Swap-O-Rama is an awesome opportunity to be green, support a great local business and pick up some new (old) clothes.
