(L-R) Asa Fleming, King Mez, Dr. Derek Greenfield, yours truly
This past weekend I had the honor of being invited to sit on a panel during Movement Of Youth’s 5th Annual Hip Hop Symposium.
Movement Of Youth is a Durham, NC based mentoring program for youth in RDU. They do alot of great work in the community with the goal of expanding education opportunities for minority students.
Movement Of Youth kicks off each year with their annual hip hop event. Throughout the day there were workshops, panels and live music. I sat on a “Hip Hop And Black History Month” panel with Pierce Freelon from hip hop band The Beast, hip hop professor Dr. Derrick Greenfield,, Asa Fleming (who has studied the subliminal effects of hip hop music videos on teens), and Raleigh Emcee King Mez.
A few more pictures are below and you can also visit the Facebook page for more photos from the day’s events.
