This week marks the two year anniversary debut of Where Is Hip Hop? with Randy as well as the 70th episode. Back on the very first episode of Where Is Hip Hop? in January 2009 Randy and I named the Top 9 Artists To Watch In 2009. The emcees that made the cut include Big Sean, Mack Maine, Jay Electronica, Fashawn, Mickey Halstead, Playboy Tre, OJ Da Juiceman, Drake, and Kooley High.

Since that time most of the picks have gone on to do awesome things. So on this week’s episode we revisit the selections from 2009, discuss their careers and the impact each one has made to hip hop culture.


And since it’s a new year, we also discuss the Top 11 Artists To Watch In 2011. These are rappers that are buzzing heavy in their homebase, have made an impact on the internet and have released quality material.

I also added one Carolina artist to the list so listen in to see who made the cut.

Oh yeah, and since our list came out before XXL’s 2011 Freshman 10, I’m curious to see how many on our list is going to be on theirs.
