I know I’ve been on this
Revival Of The RDU Hip Hop Scene rip since early this summer, but it’s so true. Trust, one year ago the scene around here was on life support. Then around March-April, something happened. Around that time 9th Wonder started doing regular showcases at The Brewery in Raleigh, several local promoters such as Eargasm began having weekly events and since then the scene has really been jumping. Things definitely changed.

Our scene is now back to the point it was in ’02, ’03 when Little Brother was on fire. The Independent Weekly (RDU’s #1 news outlet for music, arts, culture plus more) even had an article about it in this week’s paper with a feature on regional artist Kaze and his work with helping the scene remain alive.

Anyway here’s visuals from SkyBlew’s latest show that went down this past weekend in Chapel Hill. Performances included True School’s world-renowned Cesar Comanche, K. Hill, Azon Blaze, Drique London, Ease, Kourvoisier, FSM (Flight School Music) plus several more. The venue was standing room only with the remaining portion of it spilling out onto the sidewalk. It’s good to see musicians with great material gaining buzz and sharpening their skills.

After the jump peep additional performances from the night from FSM, Kourvoisier, Jones Andrews and Ease. More videos of what’s happening on the RDU Hip Hop scene can be viewed on Eargasm’s YouTube page.
