Nanci O Is Hip Hop

On this week’s episode of Where Is Hip Hop?, Randy and I discuss the return of lyrical rappers. Not to say artists with true microphone skills ever disappeared, but in the sense of these type of emcees being relevant and visible on the mainstream scene.

Between Drake and J. Cole on the radio now, we both agree that 10 years ago a track like “Who Dat” would have not been in commerical station playlists. At the end of 2000, the 504 Boyz and Ying Yang Twins were at the top of the charts.

Randy also points out the fact that rappers without lyrics don’t have longevity. Speaking of, anyone seen OJ Tha Juiceman lately? We also name several of our favorite current lyrical rappers.
