“Is the internet really over, Prince?” In the newest episode of Hip Hop Bytes, Mr. Shadeed goes in on Prince’s recent comments and actions surrounding digital music distribution and the internet. Prince will release his upcoming album 2010 will be given away for free with a purchase through London’s The Daily Mirror (really, Prince, why are YOU giving music away FOR FREE?).

Even more, The Purple One has had all of his music removed from iTunes, all social media sites, and also shutdown the official Prince website. Mr. Shadeed, who always digs up the most interesting facts about digital music, noted that Prince did the same thing back in 2007 when he released Planet Earth directly to newspapers.

Mr. Shadeed recommends artists (& media) have a strategy that includes a digital media expert on their team to help manage content distribution on the internets.

Mr. Shadeed also gives an update on the Digital 101 Lecture Series that he is providing for supporters of the Go Digital or Go Home movement. The first event was June 28 at Reality in Baltimore, MD with an awesome turnout.
