This blog was started as a platform to support the independent hip hop spirit. So artists here’s a new chance for you and your music to get heard.
2010 has been an exciting year for the blog and brand. With new opportunities I no longer host a weekly show at WXYC 89.3 FM Chapel Hill, NC. One of those is moving on to the Music Department at the station and becoming part of the staff that reviews new hip hop music for airplay. WXYC has a history of innovative programming with listeners from all over the world.
We are fortunate to have a new music director who is very interested in adding more independent hip hop artists and record labels to the regular rotation and station playlist. Rotation at XYC works much like it does at commercial radio. The main differences are the type/format of music, the formatting (non-commercial) and the reporting, which is CMJ (vs. BDS/Media Base).
The submission requirements are
1) Material MUST BE CLEAN/RADIO edits.
3) Be sure the CDs/LPs/45s are PROPERLY labeled (ie, if the music gets misplaced from the packaging it is identifiable)
