Nanci O Is Hip Hop

Last year I got hipped to Rebellious Mindz aka Shawt & G out of Edgefield, SC. If you haven’t heard of them before, they’re kind of like Carolina’s new school version of the Youngbloodz, Field Mob or Alabama’s Dirty. Since that time Rebellious dropped a mixtape The Carolina Blueprint with Million Dollar Dreamz, Randy Roper’s music and lifestyle brand company with photographer Clevis Harrison and Producer Sam King.

In a promo video for The Carolina Blueprint Shawt and G introduces their hometown of Edgefield, SC to the viewers, breaks down the history of a Strom Thurmond statue in the city square {didn’t he have some black children on the low low?} and talks about the concept behind several standout tracks on the mixtape, ‘Pressure’ and ‘Man in Desperation’.

And the mixtape? I don’t do alot of mixtape reviews, typically it’s I like something or I don’t and the reason why (or why not). For this, I do. It’s summer time-top back-on the smooth tip-ride out music. I can’t wait to listen to it this summer and then go catch lightening bugs in a jelly jar with holes in the top. It’s a country girl thing, you might not understand.

Dig the mixtape, respect their progressive grind and get some Carolina flavor in your system.
