BIG UPS & MUCH RESPECT to Journalist Glennisha Morgan. In addition to writing for several publications she owns and runs The Fembassy, the #1 site on the web for female emcees, their projects and business endeavors. Her website is officially one year old and has grown from a blog to a full fledged business endeavor. Glennisha was also one of the honorees for our Women Of Hip Hop Radio/Honors/Concert/Afterparty event back in March. She made the trek from Detroit to be a part of the festivities and celebrate women’s contributions to the hip hop culture.
We all know it’s hard out here for female artists. For women behind the scenes in hip hop sometimes there is no exception. There are girls out here who have just as much appreciation and love for hip hop as the fellas do. We grind and we hustle just as hard as the men but some people cannot or will not respect our contributions. That’s why I always do what I can to show support to women whose work positively impacts the culture and helps it to move forward. I’m also a firm believer that positivity begats positivity and creativity inspires creativity.
So Ladies, YES it’s hard out here for whatever your movement is but don’t let 1, 5, or even 10 people stop you from being great. If one person or entity says “No” keep going until someone says “Yes” and don’t let NANN NINJA tell you what you can’t do.
