If you haven’t gotten the memo yet, I’m a proud Carolina kid and representer. There’s great things happening musically right now in both NC and SC.
As witnessed from the video at 9th Wonder’s last IWWMG Showcase, the RDU (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC) hip hop scene is undergoing a true revival. I was at another 9th Wonder event last week and witness my first true “cypher” in years. A cypher! Do rappers coming out these days even know what a cypher is?
Even more, there are several artists from both states receiving national attention and those of us who blog are doing awesome things.
One of those is Tasha over at SheBloggin.com. In addition to blogging she’s a producer that has been doing work to shed light on the indie talent in the Carolinas. Tasha is gearing up to release the 2nd Edition of The Arrival mixtape series, and this time it’s going to be all NC and SC artists. The featured artists were announced yesterday and the project is officially dropping on July 6. In the spirit of good hip hop music, I need for ya’ll to support it.
