The Foreign Exchange’s Leave It All Behind is hands down one of the albums of the year. Alot of hip hop heads*** are hating on it cause Phonte and Nicolay went a different route this time around.
Gone are the posse cuts, bang in the whip beats and witty ‘let me rewind that’ rhymes.
L.I.A.B. is like transitioning into the next stage of life musically.
Just like I know I’m too grown and ladylike to enthusiastically elbow my way to the front row at hip hop shows and partake in the mosh pit like I used to it’s absurd to expect artists to remain stagnant and not expand.
Leave It All Behind is mellow, relative, transient, exciting, psychedelic, sweet, uplifting, & dope.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Te and Nic at their listening party at Six Plates Wine Bar in Durham this week.
Tune into this Fridays’ show to learn more about the making of
L.I.A.B., what the hip hop/soul scene in the Netherlands is like, and what happened to the man I wanted to be my future baby’s daddy, Mr. Ladies Champ himself Percy Miracles.
***If you think they’ve gone softer than a dude with capris on Little Brother dropped that Separate But Equal Drama Free Edition yesterday.
It bangs harder than Chinese arithmetic.
