Nanci O Is Hip Hop

One goal of The Nanci O Radio Show is to bring listeners of the show and readers of the website news and events on people, places and things not normally heard on your local radio station and/or read about on other websites you may regulary check.

I’ve been out to Omaha several times in the past couple of years. No disrepect to everyone I’ve connected with on those trips, but I’m saying though, when I first thought of Iowa and Nebraska all I could think of was spacious skies, amber waves of grain, purple mountain majesties all above the fruited plain. Contrary to what you think or may have heard, there is a small but strong and growing movement happening in the middle of the United States.

On one of my trips I kept hearing about a particular DJ who ‘rocked parties’ and was one of the gatekeepers to artists getting radio and club airplay (that’s what the streets told me). That DJ is Mista Soull, who is the CEO/founder of the Crowd Rocka DJs which is based in Omaha. Crowd Rocka DJs is one of two DJ coalitions based out of Nebraska.

DJ Mista Soull will be calling into the show regularly to give the news, current events, and updates on artists and music that’s coming out of Iowa, Missouri and of course Nebraska.

In this week’s segment listeners were introduced to DJ Mista Soull and The Crowd Rockas movement. Soull also discussed the Independent Music Market going down September 12 in Omaha and gave a full recap of Omaha Day, which is the largest urban event in the state of Nebraska that combines music, art and community.

**Side note: Did ya’ll know Gabrielle Union was from Omaha? Yeah me neither.**
