Nanci O Is Hip Hop

Late last year Randy and I talked about doing a weekly segment during the show where we talk about hip hop. Half a year later we are 24 episodes in.

Keep in mind this is just not any ole’ segment chopping it up about hip hop. The premise of the segment continues to be to educate, inform and entertain. Each week we talk about who is hot, who is not and how we feel about the direction of hip hop culture in the world today.

We both bring different perspectives and experiences to the table. R.E., being the Music Editor of Your Favorite Rapper’s Favorite Rap Magazine brings input that’s part result of observing, listening to, being a part of and writing about hip hop. The print media viewpoint.

Yours truly? Well simply put I’m just a chick who loves hip hop. Since starting the radio show last year I’ve learned that the culture along with the industry has a good side and an ugly side. “It must be two sides” (c) Shawty Lo. Being a female and working in the industry, as peripheral as my work can be, allows the opportunity to bring an estrogen perspective and talk about it. The radio media viewpoint.

Thanks to R.E. for agreeing to be a part of the segment and a good champ. Also shout out to my former manager O, even though things didn’t work out business wise between us I believe in giving credit where credit is due: the segment was his idea. Platinum star for you.

Big ups to producers such as Cesar Comanche and Big Leem for taking time out to show me how to use studio equipment to make the segments sound better. They are the reasons the sound quality improved on episodes 18-24.
