Nanci O Is Hip Hop

If you’re a reggie purveyor of the site you may have noticed that posting had fallen back a little over the past few weeks.

One of my favorite uncles had been in declining health since February, passed away early last week at the age of 77 and was laid to rest over this weekend. Not only was he a great uncle he was patient, gave excellent advice and could fix anything, and I mean ANYthing.

The very last conversation we had he talked about his life, the pursuit and living your dream. Unc was truly at peace with dying and passing over to the other side. He only wanted to spend his last days hanging out with his girlfriend, the family and drinking gin.

The main thing that stuck out to me on our last talk was about living your life the way you envision it. Unc said he was cool with dying because he’d had a great life, traveled around the world and lived out his dreams.

I’ve been working this hip hop/radio gig for a couple of years but only seriously started grinding on it in June 2008. Back then I had a goal, vision and an end point in mind. In less than a year sometimes it’s overwhelming and exciting to think how far the show has come.

Things are not at the end point yet and it has not always been a smooth ride. But I would not change the path that has brought me to the current point for anything.

When my time comes to cross over I don’t want to be on my deathbed with regrets, shouldas, couldas, and wouldas. People sometimes ask why I go so hard or take things so seriously but my fam has always taught me that you truly fail when you stop trying and Winners never quit. May sound corny but we all have the same 24 hours; what are you doing with yours to pursue your dreams?

So in the remembrance of my Unc I ask the readers out there to ask yourself:
Are YOU Living Your Dream?
