Nanci O Is Hip Hop

“I had a wonderful time and the event was awesome!!! I truly loved the whole set up and the implementing of all 4 elements. I’m looking forward to future events.”–Glennisha Morgan, Founder/Publisher of TheFembassy.com

Yes posting has been kinda slow this past couple of days, I’m still getting rested up from B-Girl South’s women in hip hop website launch party that took place this past Friday February 25th.

SOHIPOTOME (my women in hip hop brand dedicated to presenting events, concerts and radio shows supporting women in hip hop since 2009) teamed up with Maya Jackson and Larisha Stone, the founders of the B-Girl South movement, to present a launch party for their new, upcoming website. B-Girl South’s goal is to represent women in hip hop everywhere, but especially below the Mason-Dixon line.

Many thanks to our event sponsors Cellamix Recording Studios, Kosmic Kickz Rare & Exclusive Sneakers, The Niche Carolina Magazine, and Nyla Elise Clothing. Without their support the event would not have been a success.

Over the course of the night we made sure all four elements of hip hop and women’s contributions to the culture were represented. The DJ was Miami’s DJ Ena Pop, the host was K97.5’s Nikki Nicole, graph artist Saba displaying her artwork, the ladies of Eclectic did several break dancing sets (those girls were breaking their a$$ off!) and emcees Boog Brown, Lyrik, Adrift Da Belle, Lyric Jones and StahhR held down the microphone.

There was also a Def Jam Rap Star lounge for the folks who wanted to kick back and play video games.

The event had a great turnout. It was especially exciting to see so many guys come out to support the ladies.

Here are a couple of pictures from the night. Be sure to visit
B-Girl South’s Facebook page for all of the shots. Stay tuned for more video and pictures from the event. Also be on the lookout for the new B-Girl South website.

Super shout out to everyone who came out to support women in hip hop!
