Columbia, SC’s Snook Da Rokk Starr was last week’s special guest interview during the show. Snook is a Newark, New Jersey native so I was curious to know which sound influences his music most: the East Coast or Dirty South. We also discuss why he changed his record label name from Southern Dynasty to Lavish Entertainment, the importance of running an independent label like a major, the business of being an independent artist, and what’s the meaning of being a rapper with a name like “rock star”.
Ya’ll know I had to ask about South Carolina beef and as well as another heavy buzzing rapper in SC and how they compete against each other. Snook also discusses his upcoming mixtape with DJ Scream (set to drop in 2011), his new single “Grown Woman Lovin’” Ft. Torica, which has been added to the playlist at several SC Victoria’s Secret stores, and introduces his new single to the listeners.
