Nanci O Is Hip Hop

When the radio show and then the blog was started a little over 2 years ago one piece of advice I kept getting was “learn how to brand yourself”. Not neccesarily branding like fraternities do, but kinda sorta. If you want a detailed breakdown on what ‘branding you’ means check out this article,
“The Brand Called You”, for more details. I digress but not really.

On this week’s episode of Where Is Hip Hop?, Randy and I talk about hip hop bloggers who’ve expanded their brands/empires into other business ventures. They’re people like you (me, us) who started with an online journal and took it from there.

We point out examples like our girl Tasha over at SheBloggin.com that’s doing her thing with The Arrival Mixtape series, but who’s also a producer. There’s also Necole Bitchie who recently launched BitchieLife Magazine, and Gyannt who’s online web series is now airing on Atlanta’s Comcast TV station. In Carolina my dude KJ over at RH1gher.com, who’s niche is southern streetwear + hip hop, is throwing/sponsoring events.

In addition to blogging on his site Writersblock.net and of course being Music Editor at Ozone Randy also has his multi-media company Million Dollar Dreamz team that’s doing events, shooting videos, producing music + more in SC and Atlanta. Oh yeah, my new t-shirt line launched this week too, if you haven’t heard. What shameless plug?

So we discuss this plus Randy gives some advice for folks looking to get into hip hop blogging and expanding a blog brand.
