Dirty Dave (@DirtyDaveDDE) -- "Charleston" (The Short Film) by @QuadDub

One of my grandaddy’s farms in South Carolina is smack dab on the edge of a huge swamp plus has several smaller swamps scattered throughout the land. Whenever my cousins and I went outside to play as a youngins’ the old heads always warned us to “watch out for gators and stay out them swamps!” I learned it was because a real live gator is 100% bout it, will kill and eat just about any living thing it can get close up on. Not necessarily in that order. Needless to say, over the years chickens, farm dogs and cats would sometimes wander off from the main parts of the land into the woods where the swamps were and never be seen again.

One time, my uncles caught a gator and showed it to us kids (it was dead). That gator was about six plus feet long plus had jaws so big and teeth so sharp I’ll never forget. MUFUSA.

Another case in point. Back in 2010 Columbia’s SC’s Boss G released a mixtape titled The World Is Ours, Now I Want Mars. It was hosted by Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Frosty. There was a song on it titled “Gators”, which lyrically compared Boss G’s goon squad to the viciousness of a South Carolina gator.

Anyway, as I sat enthralled and watched Dirty Dave’s new short film “Charleston”, the drama unfolding, the set up laid out, which eventually leads to a robbery and finally the repercussions paid back to the jack boys (as evidenced above in a screen capture from the film), all I could think about was those gators on my grandaddy’s farm. “Watch out for gators and stay out them swamps!”
