The hosts of my favorite morning radio show (The Breakfast Club) sat down with AlLindstrom.com to talk about how their #1 rated show came together, forming chemistry with people you’ve never worked with before, coming up with great ideas to keep listeners engaged, keeping their brand fresh, and if Power 105.1 FM can ever be a bigger station then the legendary Hot 97.
As a relevant sidebar, I don’t believe the "radio beef"between Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex and Power 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club is all the way real. Feelings are touched, yes, but at this point it mostly sounds like ratings to me, as in who can get the most listeners to keep advertisers happy.
Reading about New York radio history, as outlined in Dan Charnas’The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip Hop, the same type of "radio beef"happened in the 80’s between WBLS’s Frankie Crocker and Kiss FM’s Barry Mayo, when the two used go back and forth regularly with disses to each other on air. It makes for interesting radio to listen to, but if y’all believe it’s 100% non-fugazi then you probably believe Chris Brown and Drake are really tossing bottles on each other in the club.
Anyway, check out AlLindstrom.com’s "Chasing Greatness" with The Breakfast Club after the jump!
