SkyBlew stopped by the studio back in early February and we ended up chopping it up for a spell.
Since his latest mixtape Clouds Are My Everlasting Memories was released yesterday, I decided to release the audio from our sit down. During the talk we discuss his hip hop inspirations (Blu, Common, Lupe, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas), what his name “SkyBlew” means, and how growing up in foster care influences his rhymes.
SkyBlew has built up quite a fan base and buzz in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel and is now starting to perform in other cities (Wilmington, Richmond, Greensboro, etc) so he notes observations between the RDU hip hop scene and other locales, why 15 year old producer Asonhi (who produced four tracks on Clouds Are My Everlasting Memories) is one of his favorite beatsmiths to work with and what he’s doing to grow the SkyBlew brand even more.
