Celebrate NCCU During Black Music Month…

NCCU is my undergrad alma mater and I’m a proud Eagle. Like I said back in November I always rep hard for my school.

My crew I met the first week of school freshman year, we all still hang tight. I whoop up on them in spades, pinchole or hearts whenever they’re feeling froggy. What up Mel, T-Dog, Ruthless Red and Big Sexy!

I wanted to celebrate Black Music Month by pointing out fellow Eagles who have made contributions to the music world. The following are musicians who have attended or graduated from NCCU:

The group Little Brother was formed at NCCU.

Hip Hop producer 9th Wonder attended NCCU while working as a DJ for WNCU.

Grady B. Tate is a soul jazz drummer.

Alvin Atkinson is a drummer.

Stanley Baird plays the lead saxophone for The Stanley Baird Group.

Sunshine Anderson released her debut album in 2001.

Mike City (aka Michael Flowers) is a producer and songwriter.

Christopher “Play” Martin is now an artist-in-residence for North Carolina Central University’s Hip Hop in Context 101 class.

Marcus Anderson competed this past weekend in Washington, DC, at the 6th Annual Capital Jazz Challenge Competition.
