This year the 17th Annual Southern Fried Poetry Slam will be in Durham, NC!
Poets and slam teams from all over the Southeast will be in town to compete for the title of 2009 Southern Fried Champion and take home the crown (in addition to RC Cola and Moon Pies, real talk). Camp Lo, Producer 9th Wonder and The Poem-Cees will open the show.
The Southern Fried Poetry Slam was started by Allan Wolf in 1993 in Asheville, NC. This performance poetry competition–which travels to a different southern city annually–has grown into one of the largest poetry conventions in the nation, second only to the Poetry Slam, Inc.’s National Poetry Slam, which started in 1990.
The finals will be held Saturday June 6, 2009 @Reynolds Theater located on Duke University’s campus.
